Sabumnim was born in Gloucester, England. She was raised there until she, at 8 years old, moved with her family to the United States. At the age of 16, Sabumnim Spillmann began working for a special program developed for children with disabilities. This experience lit a deep fire to help children and further her career in child development. She attended Cal State University, Fullerton where she received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Child Development in 1995. She then moved to Corona, California and ran a child development program for many years. During that time she tutored and counseled many students who went on to receive top awards for advanced, academic skills.
Sabumnim began her TaeKwonDo training in her 20’s, and is now a 4th Dan Black Belt in the art. She developed her own program of musical forms called TaeKwon Cardio, a cardio-style hybrid of TaeKwonDo and Kickboxing.
Sabumnim Spillmann moved to Gallatin to be closer to family, and is very happy to be a member of the Gallatin Community. Sabumnim Spillmann is also a mother of three grown children and a grandson.
She also is writing a series of life skill children’s stories.
