New to Martial Arts?

Not Sure Where to Start?

That’s completely normal — most of our students felt the same way on day one. The best way to find your fit is to come in for a free trial class. Our instructors will help you explore which discipline matches your goals, whether that’s fitness, self defense, competition, stress relief, or just something new.

GMA is one of the few schools where you can train across multiple martial arts under certified master instructors — all in the same building. Many students start with one art and discover a passion for others along the way. That’s the advantage of training at a multi-discipline school.

Common Questions

Getting Started FAQ

GMA accepts students starting at age 3 through our Little Lions program. From there, students progress into junior and adult classes as they grow. We also welcome adult beginners of all ages — many of our students started in their 30s, 40s, and beyond. Our Tai Chi classes are especially popular with older adults looking for low-impact training.

Absolutely — that’s one of GMA’s biggest advantages. Many students cross-train in multiple disciplines. A common combination is TaeKwonDo for striking plus BJJ for ground fighting. Your membership gives you access to the full class schedule, so you can explore as many arts as you’d like.

For your first class, wear comfortable athletic clothing — a t-shirt and shorts or sweatpants work perfectly. No shoes are needed on the mat. If you continue training, GMA will help you get the appropriate uniform (dobok for TaeKwonDo, gi for BJJ, etc.) for your chosen discipline.

Yes. GMA is a family martial arts school and many of our families have multiple members training. We offer family discount packages — contact us or ask during your free trial class for current family pricing. Many parents train alongside their kids.
